Therefore, if you use another text editor program apart from notepad, you just need to open your program with Administrator access. This can be done by running Notepad as administrator first, then navigate to and open the hosts file from within Notepad. I have the same question Improve this answer.

Fix 1. Launch Notepad as administrator · Open Windows search and type Notepad. · Right-click on Notepad option and select Run as administrator.

Copy the hosts file to a different location. Use the hidden administrator account. Allow access permanently · Right click on Hosts or then Lmhosts file and select «Properties«. · Select «security«. · Select the «Edit»To change permissions.
